Els (68) and Sjef (71) from Breda just returned from a concert by Lenny Kravitz in Antwerp when Sjef parked his car on Prins Hendrikstraat in Breda on Wednesday night. The moment Sjef wanted to remove the key from the contact, a hard blow suddenly followed. “He had only had to get out of the car a few seconds earlier and it was wrong,” said an affected Els on Thursday morning. Several local residents told on Thursday what they found in their street after the crash of a car with German license plate.
Sjef looked to the right after the hard blow and saw a jeep lying on his side. At first he thought the jeep had caused the blow. He ran to the car to see if anyone had been injured, but nobody was in it.
A little further on he saw a crashed car, it turned out to be the instigator of the havoc. There were four young people in the car, that car turned out to have rammed several parked cars, including those of Sjef and Els. From the neighborhood a lot of people were already on their feet who provided first aid to the occupants.
Els, Sjef’s wife, has since been taken care of by Carlijne Roelofse. She fitted in a house on Prins Hendrikstraat on a cat. The crash happened just in front of her door. “I was learning, suddenly the house vibrated and I heard the crash.” The moment she walked outside, she called 112. A dazed Els and Sjef stood in front of her door.

Carlijne took Els inside to provide assistance. She was bothered by her neck and became nauseous. Carlijne saw anyone else on the street outside, that turned out to be a passenger. Other local residents were already taking care of that victim.
The group of local residents who provided help on the street at night stood on the street on Thursday morning and talked to each other about what had happened that night. They saw with their own eyes how the young people were hit by the blow. According to them, one of the occupants was seriously injured. And they smoke a huge weed and alcohol air from the car. Two occupants were arrested.

At that time, three young people were in the car, a passenger turned out to have left the car earlier, says the neighborhood. “We saw that he hid some laughing gas bottles under a parked car. He was going to wait around the corner to see what would happen.”

On camera images that our reporter has seen, you can see that the boy is calling in an alley for ten minutes and waiting for what is happening. “It is great that you first hide those bottles and don’t look at your friends who are injured in the car there?” Says one of the residents. They are shocked by the accident, they find it too fast in the street, they find, especially in the night. Their children sometimes cycle home at night. “If you find such a driver here at night, you can forget it,” says one of the residents.
Els has not yet completely recovered from the shock. “It’s bizarre, it is only now coming in what happened,” she says. Her injuries are not too bad, but the shock is still great. Especially since it could have ended very differently. She turned out to be slightly injured and was allowed to go home from the hospital around half past four in the night. However, the couple no longer had a car. They went home walking from the hospital in Breda.
