The HSV announced a surprising personnel decision on Wednesday. The current coach of women will leave the club.

Just a few days after the emotional cup duel against Werder Bremen in the sold-out folk park stadium, the HSV ensures a big surprise: the contract with women’s coach Marwin Bolz, which expires in the summer, is not extended. The club announced this on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old took over the team before the start of the 2023/2024 season and will continue to look after the team until the end of the current season. Bolz is in the promotion race with the HSV – there are currently only two points in third place, which is entitled to go to the first division this year.

Women’s football coordinator Saskia Breuer praised the outgoing coach: Bolz had run the team very well at his young age and developed it with a lot of effort and know-how. However, one came to the conclusion that it was time for a fresh start in summer.

Most recently, the HSV women had made headlines in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. The Hamburg women lost 1: 3 after extra time against Bundesliga club Werder Bremen – in front of 57,000 fans. In German club football, this meant a new spectator record.
