Bentinckspark-Noord in Hoogeveen is in the picture as a new place for caravans. The former site of Korfbalvereniging Thriarta, along the Vos van Steenwijklaan, seems suitable in particular. According to the municipality, ten to fifteen new locations would fit.

This is apparent from a document from the municipality, in which the future plans for the site are outlined. Hoogeveen has been instructed by the city council to find 45 new caravan sites before 2030.

Only that is a difficult search, because there are few suitable locations. If research shows that the old korfball site is suitable, then a large part of the number of locations could already be achieved, says the municipal administration.

Bentinckspark-Noord is waiting for major changes in the future. For example, there are ideas to build a large new swimming pool on the site, there must be a new school for the Renn4 school community and housing is an option. Everything is still being investigated.

For example, the idea has already been suggested to also build houses for starters on the former spot of Thriarta. The korfball club has not moved that long to a new location. That is why the soil is released.

But the municipality kicks the brakes with that plan. The pressure to find locations for caravans is greater at the moment, Hoogeveen writes. “There are enough other locations in the municipality where houses are being realized.”

The place on Bentinckspark-Noord would not add much to that anymore, the municipality states. So preference is really the construction of new caravan sites.

According to Hoogeveen, it would be a logical place. Because close to the Vos van Steenwijklaan, where the Bentinckspark borders, a number of caravan spots have already been realized.

The former korfball place also seems interesting for an indoor sports hall. For example, there would be a need for more indoor jobs for tennis or padel, in addition to the growing number of outdoor courts in the region.

Yet it is not advised to combine something like that with new caravan places. According to the municipality, no greenery is left in the area because of all the construction. A place next to the Activum seems better for an indoor hall, but then the De Dolphijn swimming pool must first be demolished.

Nothing is in jugs and jugs, because the city council will later have to bow over all issues around Bentinckspark-Noord. Hoogeveen wants to talk to all those involved and local residents to talk about the plans. They receive an invitation for that.
