The three-time football world champion Argentina is qualified as the next nation for the 2026 World Cup.
Before the game against arch-rival Brazil (Wednesday, 1 a.m. CET), the Argentinians were able to look forward to their World Cup ticket because Bolivia did not get out of 0-0 in the Estadio Municipal El Alto against Uruguay.
In the South American qualification group, Argentina is located at the top of the table with 28 points from 13 games and thus becomes at least sixth, which is enough for the World Cup qualification.
Of ten teams, the top six are at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Bolivia remains seventh four game days before the end and would take part in the intercontinental playoffs.
In 2026, Argentina was the third nation to successfully defend the World Cup title to Italy and Brazil. After the successes in 1978 and 1986, the team of world champion coach Lionel Scaloni 2022 won the tournament in Qatar.
It is the 19th World Cup participation, and since 1974 the South Americans have been qualified for every final round.
