Darts star Nathan Aspinall ended his title curse on the European Tour. “The ASP” rated his success in Göttingen particularly high.

Nathan Aspinall prevailed 8: 4 against Ryan Joyce at the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen in the final. The 33-year-old had previously won against Ritchie Edhouse (6: 5), Jermaine Wattimena (6: 5), Luke Humphries (6: 1) and Gary Anderson (7: 6). For “The ASP” it was the first title ever on the European Tour.

“It felt like it stood in the stars” is Aspinall quoted by the PDC. Final opponent Joyce was “a great guy and a top player, and it was great to share the stage with him in the final,” said Aspinall.

“Probably my proudest moment”

The Englishman placed his triumph high in Göttingen. “This is exactly what I needed. That will help me to believe in myself, and it shows that I am still good enough to measure myself with the top boys,” said Aspinall: “In view of the situation in which I have been with the injuries and dartitis in recent years, this is probably my proudest moment.”

The spectators were “incredible”. “The support I got was incredible. To be honest, that means a lot to me,” enthused Aspinall.

The world ranking night was able to celebrate great success in his darts career. Aspinall won the UK Open (2019), the World Matchplay (2023) and was in the semi -finals of the World Cup (2019, 2020).

European Darts Trophy: Schindler Best German

Incidentally, the best German player at the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen was Martin Schindler at the weekend.

“The Wall” lost to Adam Hunt (6: 2) and Jonny Clayton (6: 1) in the round of 16 against Gary Anderson just 5: 6.
