Cabinet will open Groningen gas tap a little further this year

Due to the delay in the construction of a nitrogen factory and the higher German demand for Groningen gas, 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas may probably be extracted from the Groningen field this gas year. That is more than previously planned, but less than what the cabinet warned about in early January. In addition, the cabinet is still striving to close the Groningen field definitively in 2023 or 2024, although the Russian invasion of Ukraine is causing uncertainty.
