With one of the players of the selection of PSV, active tuberculosis has been established, PSV reports in a press release. The player in question makes up for it according to circumstances. Although the chance of further infections is small, the situation is monitored according to the GGD protocols, the club says.

The situation was reported at the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost. A source and contact research has started and people in the vicinity of the player have been informed. The club acts according to the rules of the health organization. So far there are no indications that people in the vicinity of the infected player are infected.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium and usually affects the lungs. The player has the active form of tuberculosis, which means that bacteria are spread through the air and that it is therefore contagious. Yet the club says that the chance of further infection is small.

PSV does not say which player it is and says he does not answer any questions because of privacy.
