On Monday, March 17th, Anna R. announced on the Instagram channel that the singer and songwriter died surprisingly. The Berliner was 55 years old. The family has now been called the cause of death, but this should not be communicated to the public on the wishes of the relatives. But what is clear: the musician last worked on new pieces. She wanted to go to her 2023 Solo-LP König: to follow another record under her name. Tobias Künzel, known as part of the band the prince and as a composer, should work with her for this. So he met Anna R. more.
“Funnily enough, we all seemed somehow a little out of place”
Initially, the Rosenstolz and Prinzen members met at the awarding of the golden tuning fork in 1998. So Künzel remembers “Bild”. He only said: “Funnily enough, we all seemed a little out of place. Of course, that connects.”
After that you saw each other again and again, even if there was no close friendship. But when it was king about the successor: in, the manager of Anna R. with Tobias Künzel reported “whether I couldn’t write a new song for her”.
“It just fit between us”
The musician did not go into detail about the following agreements, but only said according to “BILD”: “It just fit between us. In retrospect, I consider it quite a honor.” There was a meeting in terms of songwriting in early 2024. Finally, Künzel shouldn’t just deliver finished tracks – “they wanted to write the songs together with me, wanted to be involved. So we first talked a lot. What she would be about what it should be about how we do it.”
Nevertheless, the prince member had prepared a lot on his computer for meeting. “Image” he said in relation to feedback on his preparatory work: “Anna was difficult to read, but I think she liked what I played at the time.”
Although other meetings of this kind were planned, it never happened. Because: “She had contracted a cold and canceled by SMS. She didn’t want to infect me because I was at the time before a tour with my Allstar band Final Stap. After that, she was on tour herself-now we actually wanted to meet again in the next few months.”

He had “picture” to tell the nature of the ex-Rosenstolz singer: “Anna was not a loud, exuberant person, rather quiet and careful.” And further: “It was the most important thing for her that she would make her famous meat and bake cookies. This might describe her longing for home and her need for a safe harbor. Therefore, she also wanted to meet her at home very consciously and not in an anonymous restaurant or something.”
He also had an opinion about her four walls: “She had already furnished her apartment very rustingly, absolutely not Bieder or sterile. A real artist apartment with thick carpets, pictures on the wall, cozy sofa and large kitchen table. You could feel comfortable.”
