THE HAGUE – Overweight remains the most common lifestyle problem of Dutch people. While the number of smokers and excessive drinkers is decreasing steadily, about half of all adults have been overweight for years. The percentage of the population with serious overweight (obesity) has increased further in the last ten years, from 13 percent to 16 percent, according to the latest lifestyle monitor from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the RIVM and other institutions.
