“Brothers in Arms” by Dire Straits is one of the most successful albums in rock history with over 30 million copies sold. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the original publication on May 17, 1985, an anniversary edition of the LP will be released on May 16, 2025. It will be available as a single vinyl version, 5LP deluxe box and 3CD Deluxe Edition.

The Dire Straits published only six studio albums, but together shaped “Dire Straits” (1978), “Communiqué” (1979), “Making Movies” (1980), “Love Over Gold (1982),” Brothers in Arms “(1985) and” On Every Street “(1991).

“Brothers in Arms”, produced by Mark Knopfler together with Neil Dorfsman, is considered the first album to be fully digitally recorded and was one of the first major mega plates of the CD age. Hits such as “Money for Nothing”, “Walk of Life” and the legendary title track “Brothers in Arms” are included. Knopfler’s distinctive guitar play, soulful ballads and catchy rock anthems-the studio recording “Brothers in Arms” was predestined for a hit in the charts and presented the band at the level of their creativity.

Formats of “Brothers in Arms” (40th Anniversary Edition)

The 1LP version of “Brothers in Arms” (40th Anniversary Edition), which is re-published in this form for the first time since 1985, is identical to the original press, whereby the songs “So Far Away”, “Money for Nothing”, “Your Latest Trick” and “Why Worry” were shortened to the audio restrictions of the vinyl format adapt.

The 5LP and 3CD deluxe versions contain all album tracks as well as a previously unpublished live concert in full length of the Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio, which the band played as part of their “Live in 85”. During their tour at the time, Dire Straits played 248 appearances (including Live Aid in London) in 117 cities.

The deluxe editions all contain a 16-page booklet with linner notes by Paul Sexton and new interviews with the band members Mark Knopfler, John Illsley and Guy Fletcher. There are exclusive art cards.
