Flemish Minister for Economy Matthias Diependale sees it partly differently. He believes that we should tackle our challenges in Flanders. But would rather have a prosperous than a poor neighbor.

“I think it is honest that we are stare blindly at what is happening in Northern France. That is a good thing. I am firmly convinced that we will also benefit from it economically in Flanders if the regions around us grow. That is a good thing.
What the challenge is for us is that the challenges we have, that we offer an answer to that. That is about space, which is about the labor market, which is about permits, energy prices and wage cost. We have to tackle those challenges. “
