Jaakko Saariluoma tells Iltalehti about his family life and concerns about the future of the youth and cultural sectors.

There have been no free weekends for years. Stand up comedian and TV presenter Jaakko Saariluoma57, the pace of work has been hard and busy for years. He admits that he has not always taken care of his coping.

– People have asked if I’m sure I’m not exhausted. It may be that I have been on the verge of wisdom. You don’t know it yourself until you fall into the gap, the comedian ponders.

– The problem is, I say quite often yeah, even though I should say not. But it has taken me to many different places, he analyzes.

Saariluoma asserts that he has been nasty gas about work. However, the comedian cannot imagine what life would have been like if he had worked less.

Currently Saariluoma is giggling its comedian colleague André Wickström49, with Two gigs -stand up.

Guilt for family life

The busy working life also made Saariluoma consider whether he had been at home with his children. The thing bothered Saariluoma even after her and Minna-Both boys in their wife moved to their own. Today, the children of the couple are 23 and 25.

-At some point, one of the children was painful in my teens, whether I was too away. Of course, I felt guilty when I had been out in the evenings, the man says.

– But we’ve been talking about it now that they are adults. We said that I was with them during the day when the others were not. We have such a good relationship with them that we can talk about such things, he adds.

A couple of years ago, Saariluoma told Iltalehti that Minna has made her long career by running everything in their family life. According to Saariluoma, the situation has now changed slightly in their daily lives due to the relocation of the offspring.

“Now I have also had more time to focus on making everyday life,” says the comedian.

– There is no longer the same spin there. I have taken responsibility now that he no longer has to take it, he jokes with a laugh.

According to the comedian, his role at home is especially cooking. Saariluoma says their roles are relatively evenly distributed, but still feels that they could do more things at home.

– But we’re pretty good at this. I’m a bit of a painter at Taivaanranta that I forget things in different places, and I have no clear direction about where they should be taken. But I have also really improved a lot, the man inches.

Worry about the future

Recently, it has not been possible to avoid speeches about the plight of the TV and Culture. In the spring, there has been news of, among other things, the cultural cuts and the end of YLE’s change negotiations.

Saariluoma admits that the situation in the industry is concerned about what happens to her and her colleagues.

– I think it is idiotic to drive down the cultural activities that society needs. I understand that there is a tight society at the moment, but the media industry is in a big transformation, the comedian says.

– I also worry about workers in all sectors when the livelihood and subsidies are cut, the amount of bankruptcy is high and there are many redundancies. Unfortunately, everything leads to its roots that the economy is in place and even slowing down, he continues.

Saariluoma is most concerned about the future of young people.

– The world has not been normal for many years, when first there was a corona pandemic and then a war came. Then young people should get started in their lives, but this is a terribly difficult time for it, the man ponders.

– I can only imagine when young people should get a job and find their own goals, but in such a world it can be challenging. Not to believe that it makes sense in all of this. One should get the world again, he says.

Saariluoma believes that the Finnish economy would be helped, for example, to make the Ukrainian war.

– Then some sort of order would return to the world, and the rebuilding and economic growth would begin, which in turn affects the cultural and media industry.

Currently, Saariluoma sees the TV and cultural sects stopped, but wants to remain optimistic about its future.

– At some point, we get up. I hope we all do the moment we are down, he says.

– There should be signs that this is starting to improve. Then people would start better and think that this is what this is, he wonders.

During his stand -up gigs, Saariluoma wants to allow viewers to forget about the harshness of society for a moment.

– Every place is constantly reminded of war and cuts. I would like to give people something else and that they would laugh.
