Again a lot of effort, but again a success: the main round winner ERC Ingolstadt has held course on the play-off semi-final of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after the next effort.
The title candidate won the second quarter-finals at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers 3: 1 (1: 0, 1: 1, 1: 0) and leads 2: 0 in the best-of-Seven series. On Friday, the team of coach Mark French can earn four match balls at home.
“We are very happy about how we played. But it’s still a long way in the series. You are a good team”said ERC double scorer Kenny Agostino in Magenta Sport. For Nuremberg’s coach Mitch O’keefe, the outcome of the game was “a bit disappointing. We can keep up with number one in the league. We just have to find one way to bring the puck into the goal.”
Two days after the big favorite was kicked off, which had only prevailed in the extension by a shot (5: 4), the duel was open again. The guest tour by Agostino (13th) equalized Jeremy McKenna (32nd), then Agostino was on hand again (39.). Nuremberg took GOALIE Leon Hungerecker from the ice a good three minutes before the end in favor of another field player, used Riley Sheen and hit the empty goal (59.). The Ice Tigers had qualified for the quarter-finals in the pre-play-offs by winning the Schwenninger Wild Wings.
