The retailer Tedi GmbH & Co. KG can start its next expansion phase. On Tuesday, the company, based in Dortmund, announced that it was allowed to complete the 84 branches of the discounter Pfennigpfeiffer in December. The Federal Cartel Office approved the takeover, said Tedi.

The new owner will now begin the integration of the new locations. These would initially continue to operate under the Pfennigpfeiffer brand and then gradually switch to the Tedi concept, the company said.

A “central component of the takeover” is also “the transfer of the Pfennigpfeiffer employees to the Tedi structures”, according to a message. “You will be prepared for your new tasks through targeted onboarding measures in the coming weeks.”

In mid-December last year, Tedi agreed with the Pfennigpfeiffer Handelsgesellschaft mbH, based in Saxony-Anhalt Landsberg, at the takeover of the branches. These are located in Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
