Germany’s record gymnast Elisabeth Seitz will miss the DTB Cup in Stuttgart and the home European Championships in Leipzig. The 31-year-old has to end the season prematurely due to shoulder complaints.
“I am very sad because I know how great a successful home is feeling, but I have noticed that it will not work in health and time in order to be able to be at the start in Leipzig,” the euroopame champion from 2022 explained her decision, “now I will see that I will continue to work on my rehab for the shoulder and build it up again”.
Seitz has had problems with the shoulder for a long time
Already three weeks ago, Seitz had announced on her Instagram channel that she had to take care of her “right shoulder, which has been noticeable for some time. Of course, this makes my advanced training very difficult.” Inevitably, Seitz has had to focus on her strength and endurance values in recent weeks. It therefore spent a lot of time in the weight room of the Stuttgart Olympic Bundesture point. A device training was out of the question.
A week ago, Seitz was also chosen as an active spokeswoman for the gymnastics of the German Turner Bund (DTB). In this way, she represents the interests and opinions of the gymnasts in the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle and has voting rights in the discipline-specific steering rod. On Wednesday she will take part in a meeting of the steering rod for the first time in Frankfurt. According to SWR information, it should also be about dealing with the grievances at the German gymnastics base.
