The man who attacked his lawyer in the Pi in Vught is being prosecuted for abuse. The OM will let you know on Monday. Lawyer Fred van Rossem reported abuse and attempted manslaughter. “During the substantive handling of the case, we will explain how we look at the case,” the spokesperson responds.
The incident happened last month in the house of custody in the Pi, where the suspect was stuck. Lawyer Fred van Rossem had a conversation with his client in a consultation room, who is suspected of attempted theft and burglary. Upon entering, he was attacked by the man from scratch, he tried to strangle the lawyer.
Emergency button
A fixed emergency button on one of the walls in the room was his salvation. After two failed attempts, the lawyer managed to press the button and thus alert the security. Guards overpowered the man. The lawyer left a bleeding ear, a painful throat and a concussion. According to Van Rossem, he escaped death. “If he had first pulled me over the table, it would be very different,” he told Omroep Brabant earlier.
Last week it was announced that Van Rossem reported mistreatment and attempted manslaughter. He was still traumatized a month later and is no longer the man’s lawyer. The suspect must appear in court on 2 May for the attack on Van Rossem.
