Successful completion of the German biathlon team in the IBU Cup. According to good individual results from Roman Rees, the athletes of the German Ski Association (DSV) also achieved top results in the second biathlon league on the last day of the competition.
Two relay competitions stood in the Estonian Otepää at the end of the IBU Cup season, and a German selection was on the podium twice.
The DSV Mixed relay of the competition drove away on Saturday morning and ended up with almost 50 seconds ahead of France. Third place went to the Norway quartet, this time without the IBU Cup, which was already the overall winner of the IBU Cup, and the experienced Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, both of whom were called for the World Cup in Pokljuka.
However, as a starting runner, the strong Roman Rees had its problems. In the first shooting insert, he missed three times in the second. As a sixth, he handed over to Simon Kaiser, who then put on the second best round despite two mistakes.
The flawless Stefanie Scherer and final runner Lisa Maria Spark (1 error) finally led the DSV quartet to victory – also because the French (a total of 14 errors and two penalty rounds) and the Norwegians (14 mistakes and six penalty rounds) failed.
