A hurried escape gate in the guest block prevents the Bundesliga game from kicking off between Bochum and Frankfurt. When and whether the game will kick off is still unclear.
The Bochum stadium anthem sounded, the teams were ready at 3:30 p.m. in the best football weather, but football was not played in the Ruhr Stadium. A fan banner of the traveling Frankfurt fans hung in front of an escape and rescue gate, so the game could not be kicked off for security reasons.
Because the SGE attachment did not seem to have been sent quickly enough, referee Felix Zwayer first ordered both teams back into the cabins a few minutes after the planned kick-off.
Stadium spokesman Appeals to fans
The teams waited in the cabins. The Bochum stadium spokesman pointed out the problem several times and turned directly to the Frankfurt fans, who at first apparently did not follow the requests.
Most recently there was trouble in September 2023 against Borussia Mönchengladbach and in January 2024 against VfB Stuttgart. The game had even been against Stuttgart shortly before the demolition. At that time the game had been interrupted for around an hour.
