Raster at Guns N ‘Roses: Axl Rose jumps into the audience – fans riot

July 2, 1991

They had only arrived at the third song, but the concert on July 2 at Riverport Amphitheater (today Hollywood Casino amphitheatre) from Maryland Height (St. Louis) should not last either:

While Guns N’rose played “Rocket Queen”, Axl Rose apparently discovered a fan in the audience that took photos. He didn’t find okay. He switched from shrill singing to a speaking voice at lightning speed and asked security to grab the man. But the patience did not last long, after a courageous leap into the crowd, Rose buttoned the fan himself.

“I’m going home!”

While he was banging with various people in the front row, his band orchestrated the action with a slightly quieter version of that “Rocket Queen”. Apparently unsuccessful when dusting the camera, the singer then let himself be killed on the stage.

“Thanks to the LAME-ASS Security, I’m going home”-and with these words Rose slammed his microphone on the stage. Bumms, concert was over.

But not for the fans. As a “Riverport Riot”, the gig of July 2, 1991 entered history. Dozens of people are said to have been injured when it was rioted for three hours. Axl rose was then displayed as the “causer” of the riot. However, because the musicians continued their tour overseas, the singer could only appear in court a year later; The judge then found that Rose was not really responsible for the uprising.

“Fuck you, St. Louis!”

Rather, Rose said that the band’s own security team had had a problem in the hall. Bottle throws on the stage could not have been prevented, and some fans could even have smuggled weapons into the venue.

In the booklet of the later published two-way album “Use Your Illusion I+II”, Guns N’roses sent her new “favorite city” after: “Fuck you, St. Louis!”.

On July 27 of this year, GN’R will appear again in St. Louis for the first time since 1991, as part of their “Need in this lifetime” tour, which they last also led to ZBUNCH, where they triumphed.
