An accident occurs before the start of the race at the Formula 1 start in Australia. A rookie is involved – and can hardly be comforted.
The start of the season of Formula 1. Grand Prix of Australia. And directly the first big drama – before the start of the race. Because newcomer Isack Hadjar experienced an absolute nightmare in his first race in the “premier class” – and falsifies bitter tears.
What happened? Introductory round before starting in Melbourne. The 20-year-old racing bull pilot slides on the rain-wet road and ends up in the barrier in curve 2. The rear wing of his car is broken – and the premiere race of the Algerian -born Frenchman is already over before it started.
The start is canceled immediately and moved by ten minutes so that Hadjar’s car and the fragments can be removed from the route. Hadjar himself is inconsolable, keeps his hands on the helmet, and apparently cries bitterly on the way back into the box.
A moving scene: On the way to the RB box, Anthony Hamilton, the father of Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari)-Hadjar’s great idol-comes to him, takes him in his arm, comforted him, speaks well.
“He is of course bitterly disappointed,” said Team CEO Peter Beyer shortly afterwards at Sky. And took his unfortunate driver under protection: “I think that can happen to everyone at these conditions. Now we look ahead, next week we have a race again.”
Hadjar himself still hardly found words later, kept shook his head. “This mistake can happen at any time of the season, and it happened to me at the worst time of the season,” he said at Sky. His accident is “just embarrassing.” Hadjar also praised the attempts by Hamilton Senior and Beyer to comfort him: “It is very nice. Hadjar then had to look at the rest of the race from the RB box.
