In recent years it has become a little calmer about Arcade Fire. With “We” the band carefully linked to old artistic success, but then the headlines around singer Win Butler came.

Now the Canadians performed on Thursday (March 13), along with many other surprise guests at the Luck Festival on Willie Nelsons Ranch in Spicewood, Texas. Arcade Fire played a set with eight songs that started with the B-side “Cars and Telephones”.

After that it became exciting, because there were three consecutive live premieres of new, previously unpublished material.

Arcade Fire: New song with Shoegaze sound

It all started with the song “Pink Elephant”, which has a nice Shoegaze touch and could indicate a new sound that the versatile band has not yet exploited. This was followed by “Year of the Snake” and “Ride or Die”.

In addition to the songs mentioned, the group also played “Deep in the Heart of Texas” (cover of a song by Alvino Rey & his Orchestra), “The Suburbs”, “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)” and “Wake Up”.

Now it will be pink!

A few weeks ago, Arcade Fire had already caused a stir with a new social media artwork. Of course, this led to the non -absurd interpretation that the announcement of a new album and a tour could not be away. They wrote to their Instagram bio: “It’s the Year of the Snake So Let Your Heart Break.”

Before Arcade Fire entered the stage in Texas, they also indicated the appearance on social media and also pointed out the blood moon at night.

A new album from the musicians has not yet been confirmed. But before the publication of “WE”, Arcade Fire used a strategy similar to now and put several new pieces into circulation. Win Butler recently trumped up when he played “Heroes” together with David Byrne and St. Vincent at the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live” David Bowies.
