Hertha BSC is surprisingly going into the rest of the Bundesliga season with coach Felix Magath. The capital club announced this on Sunday evening. “I had very clear and open talks with Fredi Bobic (Sports Managing Director; ed.). We are all aware of the current sporting situation and I am happy to help Hertha BSC achieve their goal of staying up in the league. It is now important for everyone to focus fully on the remaining eight games,” said Magath, who will be presented at a press conference on Monday at 1 p.m.

Bobic explained: “Felix Magath’s CV speaks for itself. With him we have found someone who has proven many times over that, with his immense experience as a coach in any sporting situation, his manner and his charisma, he can make the right adjustments to lead us out of our sportingly challenging situation. “ On Sunday afternoon, the sports-crashed Berliners parted ways with coach Tayfun Korkut.

The 68-year-old Magath was the head coach of the Chinese club Shandong Taishan from June 2016 to December 2017. The long-standing Bundesliga trainer advised the Würzburger Kickers until the summer of 2021, before that he held the international position of “Head of Flyeralarm Global Soccer”. In the Bundesliga, Magath has already looked after Hamburger SV, 1. FC Nürnberg, Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, FC Bayern, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Schalke 04. 2004/05, 2005/06 (with the Munich side) and 2008/09 (with the “wolves”), the ex-professional won the championship title.
