FC Bayern’s basketball players want a win against Anadolu Efes in the Euro League. But there is a breakdown in the new arena.
During the Euro League game of Bayern’s basketball players against Anadolu Efes, a breakdown occurred in the SAP Garden from Munich. As a video of journalist Robert Heusel, which is spread on the platform X, shows, among other things, water suddenly rained from the ceiling over a grandstand of the new arena.
As the journalist reports, the cause was probably a pipe break in the arena. The game therefore probably did not have to be interrupted.
Such a breakdown is particularly unusual because the SAP Garden was only opened in September last year. The construction costs for the arena had previously exploded. Instead of the planned 150 million euros, the project cost 320 million euros more than double. The construction in the western Olympic Park offers space for 11,500 spectators at basketball games, but is also used for ice hockey games and other events.
The Beckenbauer Cup will also take place in the SAP Garden next Monday. This is a unique football tournament in honor of the late Franz Beckenbauer. Numerous Bayern legends such as Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben, Giovane Elber, Roy Makaay, Stefan Effenberg and Lothar Matthäus are expected for the tournament. So far, it is unclear whether the breakdown has an impact on the discontinued of the tournament.
