Uli Hoeneß was a guest at “Maischberger” on Wednesday evening. He commented on politics – and did not take a leaf out of his mouth.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß is not only known for his sharp words in terms of FC Bayern. Politically, the 73-year-old always mixes with them. In the ARD show “Maischberger”, he has now talked about the expected government coalition of the CDU/CSU and SPD: “If that goes wrong, for example, the AfD will be given voices in a new election in four years, which it does not deserve and what they are not enabled,” he said on Wednesday evening.

Hoeneß underlined his rejection against the party again and even added: “Then the time of the incompetent comes – and we don’t want that.” Most recently, Hoeneß had spoken out against the AfD in February and even warned the players of FC Bayern: “If one of our players suddenly advertised the AfD, I would talk to him and ask him if he still has all the cups in the closet,” said the 73-year-old in an interview with the “kicker”.

At the funeral service of Franz Beckenbauer in January 2024, Hoeneß had clearly positioned himself against the party. In his speech, he reminded of the 2006 World Cup when “hundreds of, thousands of thousands with the black-red-gold flag drove through the streets because they were proud of our country”. Hoeneß particularly emphasized the pride in Germany: “We have to get back there,” he said and pushed after: “I would like to clearly emphasize that I don’t want to have the AfD with this process.”

After the warning to the new government coalition, Hoeneß also gave it an opportunity. “The fact is, we had no government for three years. They only argued for three years and did not work at all,” said his judgment about the traffic light coalition and then concluded the new coalition: “After a relatively short time, an agreement has come about”, the exploratory talks found it “encouraging”.

Hoeneß has no objection to the planned financial package of hundreds of billion euros: “The new government has to show the citizen that it is there for him and not about having a good survey on Friday.” That is why “everything that is being invested here should help the citizen”.

In addition to German politics, the former manager of the German record champions also employed developments in the United States-especially US President Donald Trump and his consultant Elon Musk. “I have great concerns,” Hoeneß said the special role of the richest man in the world. He had seen a documentary in which Elons Musk’s father Errol also had their say and thought: “He doesn’t have all the cups in his closet.”

He stated: “I am very afraid when such a man is supposed to decide on the fate of employees, employees, unemployed. Then I have to say: Good night, America.” In any case, Hoeneß himself keeps commenting politically. He also said in the T-Online interview: “I am much more afraid of war and exhausting violence, which concerns me more than the question of what FC Bayern does in 25 years.”

“Nobody knows how the wars and conflicts end in Ukraine or the Middle East. The be -all and end -all for everything that concerns our future is permanent peace,” says Hoeneß. Read the whole interview here.
