A small party in Hoogeveen this afternoon. The Hoogeveen Cultuurhuis, which includes theater De Tamboer and Poppodium, has received 320,000 euros from the Performing Arts Fund for the next four years.

The money is intended for programming. Director Pieter-Bas Rebers is only happy with it, especially after the contribution passed by four years earlier at the nose of the Hoogeveens culture institution.

“We are positively surprised,” sounds a satisfied Rebers. “This is one of the few schemes in the Netherlands that is specifically about programming and vision. Because we as the foundation have different stages, this makes it extra difficult for us to write a clear vision for this. But we still succeeded with a good mix in terms of offer.”

The contribution is not unique. Among others, Ogterop in Meppel and De Nieuwe Kolk in Assen have also received the contribution. It concerns an amount of 320,000 euros, which will be distributed in four years. “It is serious money that we can use well,” says Rebers. “On the one hand it is intended for our programming, on the other hand for productions. I see it as a piece of recognition for what we do.”

That is in Hoogeveen, a city with 55,000 inhabitants, attracting around one hundred thousand visitors every year. “We can now continue our programming, because we had already included this amount in the budget,” says the director. “If we didn’t get it, we should have looked at the programming again.”
