The struggle for the overall World Cup goes into the decisive phase. Of all things, the weather complicates the conditions.
The biathlon race in Pokljuka cannot take place as planned. It is too warm, so the program is changed with foresight. As a result of the difficult weather conditions with partially double -digit plus degrees on the plateau, short individual races will take place in men and women on Thursday, there should be a day off on Friday.
The new break can be used to maintain the routes. If there are no competitions on Thursday due to the weather, the day also offers an alternative.
The IBU wants to create equal opportunities through the forward -looking measure, because shortly before the end of the season, women and men are still concerned with the triumph in the overall World Cup. For women, champion world champion Franziska Preuß from Ruhpolding wants to defend the yellow jersey in the still five remaining individual races.
Racing director Borut Nunar said: “It will be a challenging week – and we have to tackle it every day.” The weekend program is also being changed. The mass starts originally planned for Sunday are already carried out on Saturday, but the two mixed races will only come to the end on Sunday.
