The Washington Commanders caused a sensation in the NFL. On the first day of the Free Agency, they threaded a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans for a superstar tackle.

The Washington Commanders have secured the services of Left Tackle Laremy Tunsil, who will now protect the blind side of quarterback and offensive rookie of the year Jayden Daniels. In return, the Texans receive a third and seventh-round pick in the Draft 2025 as well as a second and four-round pick in Draft 2026. The Commanders also receive a four-round pick in the Draft 2025.

Tunsil played a total of six years for the Texans and will earn $ 20.95 million in the next two years after the current status, but only $ 10 million are guaranteed as a whole. So it is quite possible that a lucrative contract extension is due in the capital.

However, Tunsil started his career at the Miami Dolphins in 2016, who had drawn him with the 13th pick at the time. Before the 2019 season, they sent him to Houston by trade. Due to the new trade, the Texans now create $ 11.35 million at Cap Space for 2025.

Tunsil-Guild has consequences for Coleman

So far, Tunsil has been chosen five times in the Pro Bowl, including three times in a series from 2022 to 2025.

This trade has consequences directly for the German-American Brandon Coleman, whom the Commanders pulled in the third round in Draft 2024. So far, Coleman has started on Left Tackle, but will now have to find a new position. He could play inwards and play inwards or take over as a right tackle, so Andrew Wylie would move in. In any case, Coleman needs a new position with the arrival of Tunsil.

However, Tunsil will help to take pressure from Daniels. The one collected 51 sacks as a rookie.
