It may take some getting used to, for those who end up on a bed of the Emergency Department in the hospital in Isala in Meppel in April. You may get a doctor with special glasses at your bed.
There is a small camera in those glasses, so that another doctor can watch remotely, for example at the Zwolle hospital. It’s a test. “A neurologist can watch with patients who come with a stroke in Meppel,” says Gert-Jan Mauritz, emergency department Arts in Meppel. “We want to see if a good diagnosis can also be made remotely.”
Nothing changes for the patients themselves, apart from the doctor with the weird glasses then. For Isala it is a possible solution to maintain care in times of aging and staff shortages. “So that even in the event of an imminent shortage of specialists, the Beroertzorg in Meppel can keep optimal.”
