The Noord-Hollandse started in the inexpensive Buitenbaan and came first after the first round. She then held up in the second round in Omnisport. She walked to the gold in 50.38. The Norwegian Henriette Jæger did insisted, but was no longer able to go beyond Klaver and finished second in 50.45. The bronze went to the Spanish Paula Sevilla in 50.99.
Before the tournament, Klaver already expressed the ambition to conquer the gold in his own country, because Bol did not participate. The reigning world champion and holder of the world record in the 400 meters consciously chose to only come up with the relay numbers in Apeldoorn.
It made Klaver decide to skip the relay and to focus entirely on individual success. For example, on Thursday she saw from bed on television how Bol, Eveline Saalberg, Nick Smidt and Tony van Diepen walked to the gold on the 4×400 meters mixed relay.
Individual gold
It is her fourth individual medal at a large championship. She previously won silver behind Bol on the World Championship indoor of 2024 and EK Indoor of 2023 and bronze on the European Championship outdoor from 2024.
