The planned game between Barcelona and Osasuna was canceled at short notice from a sad occasion. An employee died.
A tragic incident overshadowed the planned La-Liga game between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna on Saturday evening. A few minutes before kick -off, the game was canceled due to a death in the vicinity of the Catalans.
FC Barcelona informed in an official statement that team doctor Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia suddenly passed away. The sad news spread during the preparations of the two teams. The cancellation was announced about 20 minutes before the planned kick -off at 9:00 p.m.
Shortly after Barcelona’s message, the opponent Ca Osasuna also confirmed the decision. Both clubs expressed their deepest sympathy of the Miñarro Garcia family. Barcelona wrote that they were “deeply sad” about the sudden loss. A new appointment for the league paper has not yet been determined.
