At Manchester United, practically nothing runs together this season and the next personnel upheaval should take place in summer. Youngster Kobbie Mainoo, who is the second most valuable player in the squad with a market value of 55 million euros behind Rasmus Højlund (22) with a market value of 55 million euros. Now a lot indicates a sale.
According to a report by the “Guardian”, discussions about a new contract failed. Mainoo and his consultants wanted more appreciation for the achievements of the 19-year-old, primarily financially. The contract, which is valid by 2027 and concluded in February 2023, brings the midfielder around one million pounds a year. However, the talks were unsuccessfully broken off, it is said.
Instead, the new Mainoo plan, which has been playing at the Red Devils since his youth, is an air change. United is also generally ready for a sale to be able to invest the money in new players. However, around £ 70 million are required, the equivalent of over 83 million euros.
Mainoos Star opened last season under Erik Ten HAG when he established himself as a regular player and debuted for England at the age of 18. Its market value quickly made the leap to 55 million euros, but stagnates this season. As a result of a muscle injury in the first half of the season, he no longer came up with his achievements of the pre -season under Rúben Amorim and was criticized by the Portuguese, among other things, for defensive performance. The right foot has been missing again since mid -February.
So it is quite possible that United’s decision to sell Mainoo is also related to the plans of the new trainer. So far, there are no concrete names of interested clubs, but the “Guardian” emphasizes that the player does not want to change within the Premier League. In winter, FC Bayern was said to have loose interest.
