The last league match of Helmond Sport in Stadium De Braak ended in a 1-2 defeat against FC Emmen, followed by a failed symbolic moment and a group of debilitating fans. The first game in the brand new GS Staalwerken Stadium was very convincing on Friday evening with 4-0 against MVV. But the fanatic supporters are far from happy. “Without accessible supporters policy, we fear that many chairs will remain empty.”

With a light show and loud music, the supporters were warmed up for the first game in the new stadium. The stadium that was talked about for many years, but where now the ball can finally roll. In one of the two stands, the empty compartments were noticed, where the fanatic supporters must provide the atmosphere. Various supporters groups decided not to go up the stands in the first fifteen minutes in protest against the considerably increased ticket prices.

For example, the cheapest season ticket will cost three hundred euros for adults next season. Single cards are relatively most expensive, although the club has a dynamic pricing. That means that the competitions that are much demand is the most expensive. The highest rates were charged against MVV. For example, the cheapest ticket for an adult cost 27 euros. All supporters received two vouchers on arrival.

“Do not bear responsibility for these high rates.”

The club mentions the increased costs in a new stadium as the main reason to increase prices. According to the supporters’ association, the ticket prices ensure a nasty aftertaste. “We share a joint love, a joint passion, and club and supporters will undoubtedly find each other again. But we do not want to bear responsibility for these high rates in any way,” says a statement.

“The club must show balls.”

“The club must show balls and defy the consequences of its choices themselves. As far as we are concerned, the highest prices will be deleted as quickly as possible. This still remains two price categories that mean an elevation compared to the old stadium. That is how everyone contributes.”

The three thousand supporters with a season ticket or who bought a separate card were spoiled on Friday evening with a football show. The fact that the Helmonders only rested with a 3-0 lead was a miracle. The team of coach Robert Maaskant missed an opportunity after a chance.

In the second half, MVV gave a little more opposition, but the home team ran out to 4-0. Opportunities on a larger result were then killed. Due to the important three points, Helmond Sport is now tenth in the Kitchen Champion Division. The gap with the teams above it and underneath is minimal, so the battle for the play-offs remains very exciting.

“We could have made more goals.”

Trainer Robert Maaskant saw a team that belongs in the play-offs. “We wanted to give the people in this new stadium something. That worked, a critical point is that we could have made more goals. I am also satisfied with our defending game. What I hope is that in the next game even more a spark will skip from the stands. This team deserved that. But perhaps it is not used to it here.”
