Mr. RCC (Rémy) van Leest becomes a judicial member of the Council for the Judiciary. The Council of Ministers thus approved the nomination of State Secretary Struycken (legal protection). The appointment starts on May 1, 2025, for a period of 6 years.

Mr. Van Leest is now president of the Gelderland District Court. Before that he was a counselor in the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal and Hoofdadvocaat-General in the Ressortparket Arnhem-Leeuwarden of the Public Prosecution Service. Mr. Van Leest is the successor of mr. PWEC (Peter) Pulles.

The Council for the Judiciary is the organization of the judiciary in the Netherlands. The Council itself does not speak a right but is the point of contact for the judiciary and represents the common interest of the various courts and courts. The Council manages the budget of the judiciary, supervises the operations of individual courts and supports courts for uniform legal application and legal quality. The Council also advises on policy and legislation on case law. The Council consists of 5 members appointed by Royal Decree, 2 of which do not belong to the judiciary. The chairman is always a judge.
