After hostility against ex-international Volland, Union deactivated Instagram comments. The association later made a clear position.

Union Berlin reacted to hostility to Kevin Volland on social media. The club switched off the comment function under an Instagram contribution with the image of the striker, after derogatory remarks about his fitness and figure had frequent.

Union press spokesman Christian Arbeit explained the decision with the words: “This is an illness of our time. Don’t give too much on it. The next thing there is again a more beautiful comment.”

Also alleged Union fans had made fun of Volland under the contribution. Work added: “If you take this too important, you will not be happy anywhere at the moment. Sometimes you also set up a small stop sign.”

After a knee operation, Volland had missed the entire preparation and the first six season games. The 32-year-old has been ready for use since October, but has only only come to Union for 50 minutes since then. In the summer of 2023, the 15-fold German international was hired for around four million euros from Monaco.

Coach Steffen Baumgart said: “At Kevin it is the case that he had to do with injuries from the start at the series and had few opportunities for game practice.” But his attitude is flawless. “Since I am here, I can complain about his attitude zero. He will be a player who is not only available to us in terms of the last games, but will also contribute to the joker role,” announced Baumgart.

Before the away game at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday (from 3:30 p.m. in the LIVETICKER from DAZN), Baumgart made so clear that he currently does not see a starting point for the attacker. The Köpenickers are in the relegation battle and are only six points ahead of the relegation place.
