Descent showdown in the German ice hockey league. The Augsburg Panther used the chance in the fight for relegation and passed the Düsseldorfer eG with a win and better goal difference in the table.
The Augsburg Panther clearly won their first relegation final against Düsseldorfer eG 5: 1 and postponed the decision in the table cellar to the last match day. “When we go through our game for 60 minutes, we are a good team. We were very disciplined,” said Augsburg’s striker Luca Tosto in magenta. It was an “outstanding team performance”. “You do the whole thing for such games.” Düsseldorf and Augsburg are 48 points, the guests slipped to last place because of the clearly poorer goal difference (-65: -51).
On Friday, Augsburg meets the Iserlohn Roosters on the 52nd matchday, Düsseldorf stands with his back to the wall and has the Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
Only one victory can save the AEV
In the sold-out Curt-Frenzel Stadium, the Augsburg Panther had to deliver against Düsseldorfer eG on Tuesday to stop the crash into the 2nd league. In the seventh minute, however, Tyler put the guests in the lead. The DEG seemed saved.
But the Augsburg Panther defended himself. Thomas Schemitsch chipped the puck to the left after the best of the embroidery handling in the 16th minute. A dusty from Jason Bast (45 ‘) then brought the 3-1 for Augsburg. Just a minute later, Anthony Louis increased to 4: 1 after submitting bast. With a shot from an acute angle, Christian Hanke made the 5-1 and the redeeming victory perfect.
