The Asser Film Festival has developed its own character over the years. Not by trapping the largest and most powerful production agencies, but by focusing on the role of women. It’s about Anora,, ” I’m Still here and The substance. They recently proved themselves by putting one of the Oscar elections to their name. A nice by -catch, but not the main objective for the IFA. They give (female) promises from the film world opportunity to force a breakthrough. A striving that is underlined this year by the theme; Showing the Unseen.

Van der Wal prompts that film productions, especially from Hollywood, are mainly dominated by men. The wife Delft is more often lost. “A very crooked relationship,” says Van der Wal. “We want to straighten this out.”

The IFA is opened in the new Kolk with the presentation of the IFA trophy. In the days that follow, film lovers can have fun, with a programming that lasts up to and including Sunday.

Furthermore, competitions have been set up to highlight emerging filmmakers. This year IFA also serves as a springboard to more success. Van der Wal: “We give the more unknown films a place here. It is nice if they get the deserved attention.”
