Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) wants to free up an additional four billion euros for Defense in four months, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is today calling in Brussels to rake 800 billion euros together for the reinforcement of Europe. The Belgian defense industry is aiming for a part of that cake. According to Pascal Acket, defense expert at employers’ organization Agoria, the sector can double its sales in eight years if some ethical flexibility in politics and banks. Together with Defense Minister Theo Francken (N-VA), the industry is investigating the possibilities the vacant Audi factory in Vorst offers.
