Before 2026, the cabinet prepared 3.5 billion euros in military support for Ukraine. Possibly that support can also be brought forward, Prime Minister Dick Schoof said during the debate with the House of Representatives about the EU summit about European security that will take place this Thursday.
According to Schoof, the reserved billion support is met with the outline agreement and the government program, which states that the Ukraine cabinet will continue to support ‘active and unabated’. The amount that Schoof now mentions means an increase in the planned support. The government budget included 2.3 billion euros for support to Ukraine before 2026.
To a question from VVD leader Yesilgöz or the government could also decide to make extra expenses responded in agreement. Wilders then interrupted with the announcement that the PVV is not bound by the government program (in which the terms are ‘active and unabated’) and only wants to agree to 3.5 billion euros if there are also extra expenses for the low incomes.
When Yesilgöz called this a “non-discussion”, Wilders reacted as bitten by an adder: “Just doing whether this is a non-discussion, is for the rich patsers from Wassenaar.”
