At Hannover 96 a big power struggle is raging behind the scenes – and time is pushing. Even the license of the second division team is in danger.
The chaos at Hannover 96 continues. For months, the supervisory board of the second division club has not been able to agree on a new managing director. Therefore, the shareholders around ex-club boss Martin Kind submitted an application for the district court of Hanover to hire an emergency manager. But the court rejected the application.
The background: The club must submit its license application to the German Football League (DFL) by March 17. This requires the signature of a managing director. But since the final dismissal of child eight months ago, this position has no longer existed.
Sports director Marcus Mann owns procuration, but must not sign the license documents. Since the Supervisory Board still does not agree, the child side made the application as a precaution in order not to endanger the license.
However, the Hanover District Court made a clear rejection of this project. “According to the social contract, the order of managing directors is responsible for the supervisory board. This is occupied and fundamentally able to make decisions. This also includes the prompt appointment of a managing director who can cause the signing and submission of the licensing documents,” said the court.
“An intervention by the register court is therefore not necessary.” The court emphasized that it was not his task “to ensure the ability to act and thus competitiveness of society instead of the respective social organs”.
Thus, those responsible at Hannover 96 are now forced to find a solution. Sports director Mann is the desired candidate on the capital side. However, the club side around President Sebastian Kramer rejects him and instead wants to use his own candidate as the sole managing director. The child side would only be ready if this candidate as a second managing director would work next to men.
