At the beginning of July 2024, Formula 1 racing team Aston Martin announced a real personnel coup with the commitment of top engineer Enrico Cardile. Now the British team would like to welcome his newcomer to the factory in Silverstone. But Cardile ex-employer Ferrari is crossed.
At Formula 1 racing team Aston Martin, a lot has happened behind the scenes in the past few months. Design guru Adrian Newey was hired as the new head of the engineering snake. In addition to the Red Bull winner, Enrico Cardile was also released from Ferrari.
The 49-year-old worked for Scuderia for almost 20 years, most recently as head of the chassis and aerodynamics department. At Aston Martin, Cardile is said to be the right hand of Newey and monitor architecture, design and structure of the 2026 car. He will do that too, but he will start his job much later when Aston Martin would have been loved.
Ferrari prevents switching to Formula 1 competition
According to a report by the Italian newspaper “Corriere Dello Sport”, Ferrari refuses to switch early to his former employee and insists on the contractually fixed time of twelve months. Since there are almost eight of these, Cardile is only allowed to start his post at Aston Martin on July 17 of this year.
The British had hoped for an earlier start so that the Italian can get in with Adrian Newey. This officially competes on March 3.
Aston-Martin boss Sauer on Ferrari
According to the “Corriere”, team owner Lawrence Stroll is the behavior of Scuderia pissurers. The Canadian has therefore assumed that the parties would have agreed to shorten the twelve -month break. This promise was now broken by Ferrari, for “unknown reasons”, it is said.
It is unclear whether the two teams do not reach an agreement. According to the report, the lawyers of the two teams are negotiating the case behind closed doors. The outcome of these conversations is open.
