Lewis Hamilton wants to win the eighth World Cup title in Formula 1 in his first season at Ferrari. However, the former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has his doubts that this succeeds right away.
Ralf Schumacher sees Lewis Hamilton behind his team -mate Charles Leclerc.
“When you come to a new team, it takes at least six to eight months before you can really use the whole environment for yourself and know each other-no matter how quickly you feel comfortable and no matter what you do,” said today’s TV expert in an interview with the “dpa”: “At least that was my experience.”
The Monegasse Charles Leclerc starts his seventh season at Scuderia. In the time that Hamilton should need to get used to, the 27-year-old will be able to use his home advantage, according to the assessment. Leclerc, who also speaks fluently Italian, took third place behind Max Verstappen and Lando Norris last season.
Schumacher: Leclerc is more likely
The fact that the 40-year-old Hamilton wins the World Cup title at Ferrari in his first year is “very unrealistic” anyway, according to Schumacher: “I don’t know why. But somehow I have the feeling that it is Charles Leclerc when someone can do it in Ferrari.”
So far, Hamilton has seven titles on the account, six of them have won Mercedes since 2013. Together with Ralf Schumacher Brother Michael, he is a record world champion of the motorsport king class. After the test drives in Bahrain, Hamilton expressly praised the new Scuderia Ferrari car, he did not believe in a great familiarization period: “The engine has a different sound, a different feeling, another driving behavior. And I drove for so long Mercedes what was a great power unit. And it is nice to see that Ferrari also builds a great engine.”
The new Formula 1 season begins on March 16 with the Grand Prix of Australia in Melbourne. There are a total of 24 Grand Prix, the final will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 7th.
