Nadal escapes elimination against Korda at Indian Wells

Rafael Nadal escaped elimination at the Indian Wells masters tournament. The fourth-seeded Spanish tennis player was on Saturday in the second round in the deciding set with two breaks behind Sebastian Korda, but still managed to win. Nadal, who did not have to play in the first round, put the American number 38 in the world aside after two and a half hours of play with 6-2 1-6 7-6 (3).

35-year-old Nadal has still not lost a game this year. He has so far competed in three tournaments (Melbourne, Australian Open and Acapulco) and won all three.

Earlier in the day, Daniil Medvedev, the world number one, also reached the third round.
