Oliver Baumann was back in the goal Deer TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday after a long injury break. After the victory, he addressed words to his wife.
As soon as he is back in the box, TSG Hoffenheim is once again an important victory: After his Bundesliga comeback, Oliver Baumann particularly emphasized his wife on Saturday at 1-0 against Bochum.
“I am very happy. I have invested a lot. I have to thank my wife. I was hardly at home for the first ten days because I always did something and just worked a lot on it,” said the national goalkeeper.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper was injured in the Europa League game against Tottenham Hotspur at the end of January and had been missing since then. In the Bundesliga alone, he missed five games. Hoffenheim was only able to win a victory against Bremen (1: 3) during this time. There were also defeats against Leverkusen (1: 3) and Union (0: 4).
Baumann explained in relation to the Tottenham game: “I had something on the foot at the Plantar fascia for a while. But I always played. But it never went away. Before the game against Tottenham, it shifted a bit. And then it was too much in the last situation and it was torn.”
Despite his comeback, the captain of the Bundesliga club has not quite reached the old fitness. He said: “I still have a tape and special insoles in the shoe. I have to thank everyone from the team and the club that helped me there. It’s great.”
