Ulf Kirsten has extended his expiring contract at Dynamo Dresden, but will work in a different role for the third division club in the future. The SGD confirms a “Bild” report published during the week on Saturday. Accordingly, the contract would have expired the clutor at the end of the month, i.e. on Friday. Most recently, Kirsten was active for the Dresden Board of Directors, he will now be a brand ambassador Dynamos and is to “support sponsor talks or club events”.
Dynamo managing director David Fischer said: “We are happy that with Ulf we can continue to integrate a real club legend into the important fields of activity in our sports community. He not only has a high reputation in Dresden, but also nationally and has significantly shaped both our club and the entire German football. It is all the more important to us that he represents the SGD and thus takes over a significant part for our external presentation. In addition, with his expertise, he will continue to support us with important sporting or strategic plans. ”
Before the confirmation, Dynamo, who was two in the table before the 26th matchday, still wanted to wait and see whether you will play in the 2nd Bundesliga in the coming season. The additional income resulting from the promotion could also be invested in a longer cooperation with Kirsten. If this is missed, it would still be unclear whether Kirsten could continue.

Dynamo Dresden: Ulf Kirsten does without salary
In order to stay with it at least until the end of the season, the ex-striker (67 goals in 181 games) does without part of his salary according to the “picture”. A poker was not necessary for this, instead Kirsten is said to have proposed the lower covers himself. He justified that the decision was announced so at short notice: “The priorities have been clearly in other areas in the past few weeks. I’m very relaxed there. “
Now Kirsten said in the club announcement: “The connection from me to Dynamo Dresden is no secret. I am pleased that after my active career, the paths have met again and that there have been close cooperation for two years. During this time, I was able to get to know a large number of committed employees in the club who would like to bring Dynamo with passionate times with passionate times. I would like to continue to contribute to this and support the SGD as best as possible. ”
Kirsten has been a consultant in various functions at Dynamo since March 2023, and at the end of last season even for two months as an assistant coach. From now on, his area of responsibility should be primarily in the area of sponsorship acquisition and, as before, should be in advice on sporting questions.
