The International Football Association Board (IFAB) announced that a series of changes have been accepted in football game rules.

IFAB, the goalkeeper’s hand in the hands of the time and penalty of the rules of the unanimous amendment has been announced.

With the new rule, the goalkeepers will hold the ball in their hands for more than 8 seconds. In the previous rule, the goalkeepers in the hands of the ball 6 seconds and the penalty on the indirect free kick.

Here are some changes in IFAB’s game rules:

-If a goalkeeper holds the ball for more than 8 seconds (provided that the referee counts down with the hand), the referee will give the opponent’s corner kick to the opponent team.

-A team’s official, a substitute player, a replaced player or a temporary player outside the playground, if he touches the ball while leaving the playground and does not have an unfair intervention intention, an indispensable free kick without disciplinary sanction is given.

-There is now an option to make announcements after the inspection of the referee or long check.

-IFAB supported the commitment to test the body cameras worn by the match officials in FIFA competitions. FIFA, upcoming FIFA Clubs World Cup as a part of the transfer of live match in confirmed the intention of applying body cameras.

When will it be applied?

These decisions taken by IFAB will start on July 1, 2025 from the FIFA Clubs World Championships.
