The design for it Village square involves two four -layer apartment complexes with 29 homes. This includes shops, catering and a parking garage. With the agreement in their pocket, project developer Bot Bouw can continue with the permit application.
“If everything goes well at the Council of State, it could be built in two years,” says Sander Verschoor van Bot Bouw. “The housing shortage is so high; there must be built.” He is also proud of the twelve social rental homes that are given a place at the A-location. “Where do you see that?”
Bergenaar Sam Stoop would like to live there. The 25-year-old followed the council meeting with great interest and was also one of the speakers last month who argued before the plan on behalf of Next Gen Bergen. This foundation is committed to better housing for young people in the most graying municipality in the Netherlands.
Resistance
“All social rental homes get the label ‘Youth House’, so this is good news for young people. We also hope that the owner -occupied homes will be designated for Bergenaren, so that the flow in the village improves.” I still live with my parents at home because there is no place here in the village. “
But Sam and his peers still have to be patient. The building plans also ensure great resistance among other villagers.
