The municipality of Borger-Odoorn and housing association Woonservice want to build six social rental homes in Valthermond. A special development, because the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) contributes to the construction costs.
This is a thank you for the crisis night shelter that was arranged last year in 2nd Exloërmond. In exchange, three of the six homes are assigned to status holders. The other three are intended for people with a bond with Valthermond.
The houses come on a piece of land from WoonService, where houses were previously. This makes fast construction possible. Three houses are placed on the Roelof Tuinstraat and three on the Noorderdiep. The project is given the name Tusseniepen Valthermond.
These are modular homes, these are houses made in the factory and then put together at the construction site. This ensures rapid realization and a sustainable construction method. The houses can remain up to thirty years.
Alderman Henk Zwiep (PvdA) emphasizes the importance of this new building: “The shortage of homes is a problem everywhere, also in our municipality. Then it is great that we can use this opportunity to build six social rental properties in Valthermond.” Due to the efficient construction method, the first residents can move in at the end of this year.
Local residents and other interested parties will soon have the opportunity to hear more about the project during an information meeting. Here it is explained what the houses will look like, how the allocation goes and what the planning is.
