Marvin Wijks, former player of HFC Haarlem, died at the age of 40. The Rijswijk amateur football club RVC Celeritas reports this on its website. He died from the effects of a brain haemorrhage. Wijks played more than 100 games for HFC Haarlem from 2006 to 2010 and scored 16 goals.
Wijks had a brain haemorrhage last Monday (February 24). He then stayed in the hospital, but his family decided on Thursday to get him from the ventilation.

“One of the most difficult reports for the board to have to write on behalf of the club. A sense of powerlessness … Many questions come up and we cannot give the answers and we will never know,” writes Celeritas on the website. “We wish his family, family and friends a lot of strength in this difficult time.”
