After the painful defeat of PSV on Wednesday evening in the semi-final of the cup tournament, it became 1-2 against Go Ahead Eagles, PSV supporters respond a day later with great defeat. “It seems like they don’t think it’s important enough.”
“They play one game really good football, against Juventus for example. And then they alternate with such a worthless pot as yesterday against Go Ahead,” says a supporter in the center of Eindhoven. “It seems like they don’t want it,” he adds. “They are doing very well abroad, but in the Netherlands it seems like they don’t think it’s important enough,” says another supporter.
Players from the club themselves also think that is noticeable. So too Guus Til. “It also seemed as if they preferred it than we did. It is the story of this season.” PSV often plays great football in the top matches, but often knows how to put less energy on the mat in regular matches. “It’s guessing though. This is just not allowed,” the midfielder said shortly after the lost game.
Motivation
Noa Lang also indicated the same last week. Namely that it is more difficult for certain players within the selection to find the motivation for competitions in the competition than for those in the Champions League.
The fact that there had to be talk about the motivation of players in the semi -final of the cup was a worrying thing, also thought coach Peter Bosz thought. “Of course I am ultimately responsible. Only the motivation should really come from yourself. As a top athlete you should not be able to withstand your loss. But if the difference between the first and the second half is so great ….”
On Saturday, the PSV people will have another chance to prove themselves. They then play football again against Go Ahead Eagles, this time in Deventer. And Carnival Dinsdag play the Eindhoven players the eighth final of the Champions League in the Philips Stadium against Arsenal. The kick -off is at 9 p.m.
