SortOpered, cultured, strong. The woman imagined by Max Mara for autumn-winter 2025/2026 He parades at Milan Fashion Week with the step decided by a Victorian heroine projected in the present. The collection, entitled UNTAMED HEROINEtakes inspiration from two legendary figures of English literature: Jane Eyre and Catherine Earnshaw of Stormy peaksmasterpieces of Charlotte Brontë. Between Gothic atmospheres and calls to the English countryside, Ian Griffithscreative director of the maison, builds a wardrobe made of enveloping coats, large and long skirts and full of history fabrics. An ode to refined and indomitable femininity, capable of crossing inner and real interior storms with elegance.
Max Mara, the classic reinvents
The collection translates the Victorian tradition in a contemporary key. The Head of the symbol is the Redingotewhich becomes more structured and bold: adhering on the bust, tight at the waist and wide on the bottom, it is enriched with details in shearling or skin for a touch of modernity. In a game of volumes and proportions, it also turns into a skirt that lets you glimpse culottes and coast socks. THE Zuava trouserson the other hand, they update with knee folds and a lifetime band, combined with short jackets that slim the figure. The Gilet returns protagonistboth in the slim versions under the jacket and in the most daring ones above the coat.
Imposing coats and enveloping textures
As always, Max Mara makes you understand the fulcrum of the collection. Military coats, enveloping clutch coat and shirt cloaks alternate with stuff-de-chambre with fluid lines. The Tweed lights up the colors of the red berries and autumn fernswhile the Mouliné fabrics transform the sweaters into modern Victorian bodies. Black velvet dominates in the evening with sculptural clothes and beaten bodices, for a cinematographic elegance.
Max Mara accessories, between the moor and the city
The accessories complete the story with a perfect balance between functionality and poetry. Robust backpacks evoke long walks on the hacksterswhile the minimal shoulder straps accompany urban frenzy. A mix of past and present, just like the Max Mara heroin: strong, sophisticated and always in motion.
Literature and fashion in constant dialogue
“We are immersed in literature”, Griffiths told in the backstage, revealing his creative process between Pages of Brutë and Mendelssohn’s notes. The designer visited the Yorkshire, the native of the writers, and translated the Plumbean skies and wild landscapes in a palette of musk and beige green. “Great skirts, it was my first thought,” he added, emphasizing the romantic aspect of the collection.
